    Weldment

Public discussion by Chris Williams, posted courtesy of Vuuch.

I am wondering if Proe has what I will call a Weldment capablity? Last night I was at a SolidWorks user meeting and a gut demonstrated the SW Weldment module. What you do is biuld curves which represent your structure adn then you select a curve or curves and tell the curve what type of stock it is. For example a c-channel, round, sq-tube, etc… What got my really interested is then you select the connection points and use a dialog box to tell the system how to join the two intersecting tubes… I am sure you can do this in Proe but I have no idea how. I have done this in the past with a merge by referance but I am sure there is a better way. Thanks.

Make Datum - On the Fly

Public discussion by Chris Williams, posted courtesy of Vuuch.

OK maybe you can tell from the title that it has been a while… since I used Pro. But how do you make a datum on the fly now? I wnat to make a datum sketch and I want it to be on a DTM offset from a DTM I have but I want the new DTM to be part of the sketch feature.

    Import Image

Public discussion by Chris Williams, posted courtesy of Vuuch.

I would like to import a jpg (or some other image format) into my model to use as a referance. I found an image editor but I cannot seem to find a way to import an image. Can someone explain how to import an image, how to place it and how to scale it please. Also are there any tricks about how to then turn this on and off? I expect it will come in as a feature I can suppress…

What draft angle should I use?

Public discussion by Jeff S W, posted courtesy of Vuuch.

Working on this plastic part – it is about 20mm long, 15mm high and it has varible wall thickness – 4mm at the bottom and 2mm the tap part on the top. The small ribs are 1mm in general.
The plastic I am planning to use is Nanjing Lihua brand
Engineering plastics are a group of plastic materials that exhibit superior mechanical and thermal properties in a wide range of conditions over and above more commonly used commdity plastics. The term usually refers to thermoplastic materials rather than thermosetting ones.
    Examples of engineering plastics include:
    Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)
    Polycarbonates (PC)
    Polyamides (PA)
    Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)
    Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
    Polyphenylene oxide (PPO)
    Polysulphone (PSU)
    Polyetherketone (PEK)
    Polyetheretherketone (PEEK)
    Polyimides
