    Very Slow binocular searching

Does anyone know how to speed up the binocular searches in Wildfire 3 M200? I am regularly seeing 5 to 10 minutes to return a search for a component in the model tree. I have 64 bit HP box and with several thousand parts in the tree I really need a working search tool.
Also the search often fails to return the component I know is in the tree. I try again(10 more minutes wait) and it finds it. Have they fixed this in WF4? PTC said it was fixed in WF3 m200 but you decide.

Ill look into this for you. Right now I do not have a large dataset to test with or for that matter version3. Lets see who I can track down to help out

      glanz,

Sounds like this is an issue to report to PTC Technical Support. They should be able to verify if this is a generic software issue or something related to the files you are working with. I would recommend opening a support call on http://www.ptc.com to make sure PTC can address this issue for you.

How do you setup a profile picture on ProJott? I went to the profile page, but could not find an option to upload an image?

The profile pictures are set from Gravatar you need to get an account there and associate your avatar to your email. Once you do that you will find that in many places your avatar is automatically added to your profile (If the profile uses the email registered at Gravatar

Got a really cool link from Ben to create a screen shot when you do not have any local application to do this: http://www.jingproject.com/

Jing is a locally installed program but http://ScreenToaster.com is a non-locally installed system to do a screen capture.

I use this tool. It is realy great. One BIG issue I have with it is you cannot open an image from your disk and mark it up.

    • Ben 11:45 am on October 6, 2009 Permalink

Which tool are you referring to Vuuch? Jing does allow you to mark up from your desktop if you save it there first. FYI

    • vuuch 7:17 am on October 7, 2009 Permalink

I do not think you can. It would be nice if I could open an image file using jing, but i cannot. Jing will only open things for markup that are captured. I do not see any way to open a file on your disk using jing or to set jing as the standard app for say jpg files… It would be nice if you could.

    • Ben 11:28 am on October 9, 2009 Permalink

Click on the jing icon and then the icon that shows a couple of pics or ‘history’ then click on the picture in question, hit the eyeball icon or ‘view’ and you can then edit the picture… Oh wait I should read your question properly. You are right you cannot edit a non captured pic via jing but you can with jings big brother snagit

    • vuuch 12:45 pm on October 9, 2009 Permalink

WOW that is very cool. What is odd though is it goes to some place on my disk but how do you change to another folder? How do you set the default folder it opens? You would think this would be clear, maybe I need more coffee…

JING is great. That’s what I use to capture my Pro/e tutorial videos.
